Django 1.0

Django 1.0

Django, my web framework of choice, finally reached 1.0 status earlier this month (although it’s been running enterprise websites for several years). Mostly it means forward-compatibility with subsequent 1.x releases. So, today I buckled down and installed 1.0 on my Dreamhost server. It went pretty smoothly except for a few issues with the new comments system, but it only took about 2 hours to rewrite the apps for my two sites (one being my father’s watercolor gallery) and get them running with the help of the 1.0 Porting Guide provided on the official Django website.

Check out the new comment system. Now your name can have a URL attached that links to your personal website or blog and leave an email address (I won’t give it to anyone, I promise) so that I can respond to comments that warrant a response.

Next up is porting over jennipotts.com so that subsequent Clickpop sites are all running the same version.
