The Future of Projection
November 29th, 2008
Projection technology has been making giant leaps recently. Here are few of the most impressive features I’ve seen.
Video mapping onto 3D objects
Pico laser projector
3D holographic projector
Now put it all together: A handheld projector that scans the 3d structure it’s being projected onto and adjusts the content appropriately. The content being projected can interact with the surface it’s being projected onto and jump out into the space between the surface and the projector in a holographic projection. The content can then be context sensitive. For instance, if you project onto the floor you could display a map of the area and if you project onto the ceiling you could display a map of constellations. There will be a lot to play with when these hit the market.
