NASA space colony con­cept art from 1970. I wish more illus­tra­tions were done in this style today. If an artist could recap­ture this look it would really be some­thing spe­cial. More art and high-res ver­sions at NASA

   do you know where in the uni­verse these colonies were to be set up?

   I’m not sure. Prob­a­bly not a spe­cific place, just some­where inside a plan­e­tary sys­tem. It would still have to be rel­a­tively close to a star so that it could col­lect solar energy.
